ABOUT
YEKTA stands for Youth Empowering Kindness, Together in Action.
It's also Yekta's name, because this started as her project before it became anything bigger.
YEKTA Initiative is a family-driven youth service and leadership project built on one simple idea: children don't need to wait until they're adults to make a meaningful difference.
It started with Yekta and her family. The long-term hope is bigger: an example other young people and families can understand, copy, and make their own.
At the YEKTA Initiative, we believe that every child can make a difference, kindness grows through action, families change communities together, and small acts, repeated consistently, create lasting impact. Guided by these beliefs, we complete one meaningful community project each month, inspiring young people and their families to serve others, care for the environment, strengthen their communities, and invite others to do the same. Our mission is to nurture a generation that chooses compassion, creativity, responsibility, and purposeful action.
Every child can make a difference.
Kindness grows through action.
Families can change communities together.
Small acts, repeated consistently, create lasting impact.
Young people can be leaders now, not only in the future.
Service should be meaningful rather than performative.
Creativity and kindness belong together.
A project doesn't have to be large to matter.
The goal is to inspire others to take action too.
Each month follows the same simple arc: The Idea, The Plan, The Action, The Reflection, and The Ripple. It's not about collecting hours or creating a polished image. It's about consistent action, learning, responsibility, and creativity.
This site will grow the way the initiative does. Right now, it's a homepage, a project journal, and a guide for starting your own. As YEKTA grows, we hope to add printable project guides, stories from other families, and a way to see the ripple spread. None of that needs to exist yet. The point is to keep showing up, one month at a time.
